Number 6: Mint Jams

The cover of Mint Jams

Gasp, a live album! But it was so good that I didn't even realize it was one until the end when I heard the audience cheering. As a matter of fact, this is the album that got me into Jazz Fusion as a whole, the amount of skill shown on each instrument in each track is absolutely insane, special mention goes to the solos in Domino Line, the bass solo in particular is absolutely insane to have someone slapping it THAT fast and for so long, the guitar solo in Asayake and synth solos in Time Limit being no slouches either. Yet again, another album where you can do basically anything listening to it and it'd fit and make everything instantly way cooler and more fun, I've literally just scrolled on social media listening to it and been having a good time even as I saw people just absolutely spit venom at each other, it's THAT good at going with things. Even with Tears of the Star, being more "somber" compared to the rest doesn't impact it, still being an absolute jam, especially when it gets more intense near the end, mainly with the bass getting more intense. Probably one of the best things to come out of 2020 being well... 2020 was getting people exposed to Casiopea, myself included, starting out with this album and Make Up City, although these guys have A LOT of albums, I just stick with their 70s/80s output and I'm very happy with it. Was an absolute goal to get this album and any other Casiopea albums when I was in Japan, having accomplished that when I visited Tokyo and picking up a copy at Tower Records, still having not taken it out of its wrapping to this day and having no intention to anyways. I know I keep saying this but if you gotta check out an album from this list, make it this one, you won't regret it, even if you're not really a jazz or rock guy.
